Do you need urgent help?

It is important to note that Claire Hurwitz Psychology is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis and in need of urgent help, please call Lifeline on 13 11 14, the local Mental Health Line (Acute Care team) on 1800 011 511, or go to the Emergency Department at your nearest hospital. Please reach out for help.

Fees

Our fees are set below those recommended by the Australian Psychological Society. Please get in touch for more information about our current fees.

Medicare

We provide psychological treatment under the Australian Government’s Better Access Initiative. Clients with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) can receive a Medicare rebate of $137.00 per session, for up to 10 individual therapy sessions per year.

Please note you do not require a GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan to attend sessions. It is completely optional and merely to assist you financially. Please see FAQ’s for more details on Medicare and Mental Health Care Plans.

Cancellation Policy

As session times are in high demand, we require at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, or a cancellation fee of 50% of the session price will be charged.

If you cancel the day of your session (less than 24 hours) or fail to arrive for a session, inclusive of forgetting it was scheduled, the full session fee will be incurred. Cancellations that occur on the day of a session impacts both clients waiting for a session and the psychologist who has taken time to prepare the session.

For any appointments on Mondays, notifications to reschedule or cancel an appointment are to be received by the previous Friday. Weekends are considered out of hours.

COVID-19 Safety

At Claire Hurwitz Psychology, the health and safety of our clients and team is of utmost importance. We have implemented additional sanitary measures at the practice to ensure we keep the space as hygienic as possible.

We are offering secure online sessions (otherwise known as Telehealth) for any clients who would prefer to connect with us remotely instead of attending the practice in person. These sessions are conducted via video (using Zoom, an online video conferencing tool) or phone.
